Burton Hitchhiker 26/27
Who is this splitboard binding for?
Burton Hitchhiker is intended for riders looking for supportive Burton softboot binding on a Spark Tesla T1 platform for comfortable climbs and powerful riding. Burton Hitchhiker is most versatile with a medium-stiff splitboard boot. Prioritise firm heel hold, minimal lateral play and an outer boot length that fits the chassis without forcing the straps or highback out of position.
How does the system work?
Burton Hitchhiker uses Spark Tesla T1/ST with Burton straps and a negative-lean highback. The Hitchhiker combines Spark’s proven touring system with Burton straps and a negative-lean highback. Extra rearward movement helps the stride, while strap and boot fit determine downhill precision.
What is included and what else do you need?
Manufacturer package for Burton Hitchhiker: a binding pair and the ride/tour hardware specified by the manufacturer
Plan separately: Confirm whether pucks or ride-mode interfaces are included. Add compatible crampons where your tours require them.
The exact package matters with this model because missing interface parts are system-specific rather than universal accessories.
What changed from the previous season?
Burton Hitchhiker carries its established core construction into 26/27, so experience with Spark Tesla T1/ST with Burton straps and a negative-lean highback and the binding’s basic character remains relevant. Still verify the current package, size matrix and any running strap or hardware updates.
Which size should you choose?
Available Burton Hitchhiker sizes: XS, S, M, L. Use the boot’s real outer length: heel and toe should remain centred, straps should operate in their intended range and the boot must not move laterally in the chassis. When in doubt, measure the boot’s outer length and compare it with the current chart because identical labelled sizes can vary substantially between brands. Our boot and binding compatibility guide explains how boot flex, highback and board stiffness interact.
Have we tested this binding?
We are preparing a new 26/27 review of the Burton Hitchhiker. Until it is published, this page provides technical guidance without presenting a test verdict in advance.
