Brecherspitze / Freudenreichsattel
Route Character
Good and short route for splitboard beginners as well as for advanced when the conditions are a little bit tricky!
Starting Point & Village
Starting point: Parking Kurvenlift - Spitzingsee - 1110 m Village: Spitzingsee
Ascent & Route
First following the snowed road to the Untere Firstalm, then further to the east up the former ski piste towards the west peak of the Brecherspitze (Freudenreichsattel). On the 12.12.12 the summit slope had a very irregular snow distribution due to the strong wind of last week. The upper part has accumulated the most snow and is the best option for descending. The way is easy to find so I think it is not necessary to describe it more detailed.
Passage to Brecherspitz summit: In contrast to the ascent to Freudenreich saddle, the passage over the ridge to the Brecherspitz summit requires no fear of heights, sure-footedness, sufficient alpine experience and is usually made on foot. The south slope of Brecherspitze is wild forest reserve.
Descent & Variants
Main summit slope. There is the possibility of doing a round tour by descending towards the north and west to Freudenreich alp and ascending back to the south in the main sumit slope facing west.

Map Explanation
- Slope inclinations are a very important criterion in avalanche risk management. However, slope inclination alone should never be the sole criterion!
- The resolution for Austria and South Tyrol is based on a digital terrain model (DTM) with 10m resolution. Outside these areas, accuracy is significantly lower.
- A map can only ever provide a limited view of real conditions.
