Penguin Washing and Care:
Shell products are made with membrane. The garment can be washed at 40 degrees without spinning, with a mild detergent and no softening or rinsing agents. Do not use bleach. We recommend to use a washing product free of surfactants and detergents, fabric softeners, enzymes and perfumes. They man damage the fabric’s water-resistant quality and the colour. Special washing products should be available at your favourite outdoor shop. Ask for „washing products for garments with a membrane“. Use water repellent spray on the outside of the product after washing for optimal water-resistance. Dry the garment on a low setting in the dryer, or iron it at a low temperature. Warmth helps to reactivate the DWR (durable water resistance) treatment on the surface of your product.
Note: Water repellency DWR
Our membrane products have a water repellent surface (DWR Durable Water Repellent treatment) when they are new. DWR is a polymer and prevents the fabric from attracting moisture and dirt. When you use your product, this water repellency wears off, particularly at the seat, knees, shoulders and elbows, where the garments are exposed most. For best water repellence, we recommend to re-impregnated after each wash, or when you see parts of the products surface is getting wet.
