Mammut Barryvox S2 26/27

The Barryvox S2 is Mammut’s performance-oriented transceiver for experienced tourers and demanding search scenarios. This page places it in a splitboard touring context: what it is for, where its limits sit and which equipment still belongs in the setup.

What is the Barryvox S2 designed for?

A modern three-antenna transceiver is only one part of the rescue chain. A working probe and metal shovel complete the standard kit. Every tour starts with a group check, battery check and the prescribed spacing from phones, smartwatches, heated equipment and other electronics.

The S2 suits users who actually train its advanced functions. Infrequent practitioners often benefit more from the simplest familiar interface.

What is our editorial assessment?

We have not yet tested the Barryvox S2 on tour. This assessment is based on the published manufacturer information and our experience with comparable splitboard equipment. Once we complete a field test, measured data and practical impressions will be separated clearly from product specifications.

What is included and what else do you need?

The transceiver is included; consult the current manufacturer listing for harness, batteries or charging cable. A metal shovel, probe and regular rescue practice are still required.
