Burton’s splitboard softboot emphasises rearward cuff movement, quick two-zone lacing and a durable Vibram sole.

Who is this splitboard boot for?

Tourist is Burton’s versatile touring boot for riders who want to retain a natural softboot flex. It suits day tours and powder descents where walking comfort matters more than maximum cuff pressure.

How do fit and flex feel?

Tourist sits in the medium flex range and is less uncompromising than very stiff alpine boots. Speed Zone independently tensions upper and lower zones, while Tuff Cuff Lite holds heel and ankle. This creates a versatile setup where comfort and natural snowboard flex matter more than maximum stiffness.

What does the boot offer on the climb?

The cuff has more reverse flex than other Burton boots to support a touring stride. Vibram MT with EcoStep rubber grips bootpacks and rock. Extra loops and spare conventional laces provide a simple backup if Speed Zone is damaged in the field.

Which binding matches this boot?

With Burton Hitchhiker or a similarly tuned medium-stiff split binding, Tourist remains balanced. A very stiff highback adds edge pressure but removes some of the medium-flex boot’s comfortable, natural movement.

Read the underlying principles in our gear guide Finding the perfect boot-binding combination.

What changed from the previous season?

The 26/27 model carries Tourist forward without a fundamental concept change. Its Vibram sole, Speed Zone, Life Liner and touring-friendly reverse flex remain the defining features.

Have we tested the boot?

We have not personally tested this 26/27 boot. The assessment is based on current manufacturer data, its construction and our existing experience with earlier versions.
