You want a versatile split and less guesswork when assembling a first touring setup? The Marauder comes as a package with skins, pucks and mounting hardware. It is K2’s currently listed splitboard option for 2027, and a useful starting point when an everyday touring setup matters more than saving the final few grams.

Is the K2 Marauder Splitboard Package 26/27 right for you?

Manufacturer model year 2027.

Which type of splitboarder does it suit?

Freeride and relaxed tourers seeking versatility. You want to enjoy the descent after the climb, whether that means powder or a tracked-out exit. The Marauder brief is more relevant to that mix than a highly specialised shape. Its package is a clear starting point for a first setup, but matching the components matters for experienced tourers too.

What does the shape offer on the descent?

The directional outline has a slightly wider nose than tail, with camber underfoot. K2 is targeting mixed touring descents rather than a pure powder speciality. A BAP wood core and fibreglass with carbon stringers appear in the current specification. The practical question is whether it remains easy to enjoy after a long climb. That immediate familiarity was a strength of the earlier Marauder we tested; those impressions are identified by season below.

What should you consider on the skin track?

Splitrack lets you adjust binding placement along narrow channels. It is useful when fine-tuning stance, but the complete binding interface still has to be compatible. The included pucks are not a complete splitboard binding. Nor does the package automatically include boots or crampons. Compare total ride-ready costs before setting its package price against a board-only offer.

How do you choose the right size and setup?

Eight lengths from 147 to 166W cover a broad range. W denotes Wide: the 158W has a 25.6 cm waist compared with 25.0 cm on the regular 159. That can matter for larger boots. The manufacturer’s rider-weight ranges overlap substantially, so follow the initial weight check with boot fit, riding style and the handling you want rather than choosing the longest permitted size.

Precut skins are convenient when the supplied size matches the board. Check the size pairing and attachments calmly before the first tour, then practise the full transition between touring and riding with your chosen binding system.

For a fair price comparison, count the parts you actually need. If you already own suitable skins or an interface, the calculation differs from a completely new setup. The Marauder package is a specific collection of parts; a retailer bundle may add bindings and therefore cost more.

How should boots, bindings and board work together?

Budget for complete bindings and boots with good heel hold and lateral support. The included pucks transfer force only as part of a compatible interface. For a first setup in particular, match boot size to board width and binding size rather than choosing the cheapest bundle.

For a freeride splitter, durability can matter more than the final few grams. For long climbs you may give weight greater priority; compare complete systems including bindings and skins.

Which test experience helps you choose?

We have not yet tested the current version ourselves. The following experience comes from earlier generations or the explicitly identified test pool.

Our detailed Marauder report dates from 19/20 and also appears in the ongoing workbook’s 21/22 sheet. We liked how immediately familiar and stable it felt. Edge hold remained convincing at speed, it absorbed uneven snow well, and float and agility worked in powder.

On the climb we noted good forward tracking and clean balance, with no particular disadvantage while breaking trail. It was not a specialist lightweight. We also found the channels practical for adjusting the stance. That still provides a useful demo checklist: immediate feel, suitable width, stance and the weight of the complete setup.

K2 now labels the package 2027 and lists precut Pomoca blend skins. Our earlier impressions are not a fresh test of those skins or the current build. Criticism of skins supplied with an older Freeloader is not transferred to the Marauder package either. The archived report remains a comparison with an earlier generation.

What has changed since 25/26 and earlier models?

K2 lists the Marauder Package as model 2027 for 26/27. The brand does not fully describe a specific technical change from 25/26. When comparing a previous-season offer, focus on suitable length and width and the exact package contents. A lower price only becomes meaningful when the skins and mounting components also match the offer.
