A distant summit and a demanding descent place different demands on a splitboard. The Ultralight Solution brings the Solution’s all-terrain brief into a carbon construction for ambitious touring. Its performance focus makes it a considered choice for technically confident riders.

Is the Jones Men's [ULTRALIGHT] Solution Splitboard 26/27 right for you?

The Ultralight Solution targets riders who want the Solution’s broad mountain brief while paying closer attention to every part of the setup on the approach. Carbon construction does not automatically make a difficult line easier. The initial proposition is a combination of carrying weight and a performance-oriented board for the descent. Size still needs to match rider weight and riding style.

Our older Carbon Solution coverage shows that the lightweight branch was never simply a mellow alternative. It was aimed at experienced tourers who actively drive a board. That history helps position the model, but provides neither a current weight nor confirmation of today’s damping. Construction and generation have changed; the former Carbon name does not establish identical behaviour.

How does it fit your approach, size and setup?

The most useful comparison is the standard Solution in an appropriate size. If most days involve short climbs, well-fitting boots or a lighter binding may be a better investment than the most expensive board variant. When long approaches and carrying sections are frequent, compare the complete setups closely. The Butterfly offers another distinct direction if compact overall dimensions are particularly important.

What have we learned from earlier seasons?

Our 18/19 Carbon Solution page addresses experienced tourers with an active riding style. It highlights stability, agility and edge support in technical terrain. That is the historical reference for the lightweight Solution family. The old construction included Ultra Iso Core and TeXtreme Carbon and should not be treated as identical to today’s Ultralight build. We therefore use the experience as a related-variant comparison without carrying its weight or test scores into a 26/27 assessment.

What has changed since 25/26 and earlier models?

This model already appeared in our 25/26 gear guide. When comparing purchases, check the appropriate size, exact version and the dimensions below. The current manufacturer page does not provide a complete construction change log, so a fresh graphic alone is not a reason to promise a different ride.

FAQ: What should you know before your first tour?

Is the Ultralight Solution simply the old Carbon Solution?

It shares the idea of a lightweight, performance-focused Solution, but that does not make the constructions identical. The linked Carbon report explains the older character; use the 26/27 table for current dimensions and weights.

Which Jones Men's [ULTRALIGHT] Solution Splitboard size should I choose?

Current listed lengths are 158, 161, 162W, 164, 165W cm. Start with the rider-weight range for each length, then check boot width and stance. Frequent kick turns favour manageable equipment; extra length purely for assumed flotation is not a universal solution. Reference points from the table: 158 cm: 130-180 lbs. / 59-82 kg., waist 24.9 cm; 162W cm: 160-210 lbs. / 73-95 kg., waist 26.3 cm. These are manufacturer recommendations, not weight limits established in our tests.

Which other boards should I compare?

Jones Men’s Solution Splitboard: One board for varied snow and active freeride touring. Jones Ultralight Butterfly Splitboard: Long approaches, repeated kick turns and experienced riders. Choose around your usual tours and an appropriate size rather than favouring a model purely because of its position in the price list.

What original test experience do we have?

There is historical evidence: Jones Carbon Solution 18-19. It concerns 18/19 and is discussed above. It is a comparison with an earlier generation or related variant, not an identical 26/27 field test.

What do I need in addition to the board?

You need a compatible splitboard-binding system, suitable boots and skins matched to the length and attachment points. Where Jones specifies a skin group in the table, use it when selecting skins. Compare complete offers: the board price alone does not tell you what a ready-to-tour setup will cost.

Is an earlier-season version worth considering?

Yes, when model, size and condition suit you. Compare the specific model-history information rather than only the year label. For a used board, inspect the base, edges, inserts and connectors. An earlier test score cannot replace a condition check.

Which sizes and specifications are available?

Sizes: 158, 161, 162W, 164, 165W cm. Profile: Freeride CamRock. Manufacturer flex: 9/10.

The table contains manufacturer figures for the specified lengths.
