First Impression
The Salomon Pillow Talk is identical with the SickStick splitboard and is marketed with a slightly modified design by Salomon in the 151 version as Pillow Talk. The board has become lighter and it's quite easy to handle, comparable to the Amplid Milligram. The weight is quite close, but it doesn't reach the same weight class yet. Anyway it is lighter than lots of other splitboard models in the market. The edge hold is good and the flex is rather soft. In powder and slush it can be ridden playfully through most terrain. In rough terrain or in very hard conditions it becomes more difficult and requires more toe feeling. It also brings the promised pop with it in any case. Versatile all-mountain splitboard for a very good price since skins are included. We could not yet test it with the delivered skins, hence we do not know yet how good they perform.
Product Description
The Salomon Pillow Talk Split is a nearly twin shape board with only a few millimeters of taper. Wolgang Nyvelt was involved in its development, no wonder that it is best suited for backcountry freestyle use. We also like the metal reinforced ends in nose and tail area that protects the board if you hit stones and rocks or the couloir turns out to be narrower than expected. If you need it one size bigger, you can use the 157cm version, which Salomon markets identically as a under the name "SickStick".
