Mendiboard Sakon Splitboard - Details

The Sakon Splitboard is your all-terrain line for deep-powder days: versatile, stable, and at home on any snow. The camber between the bindings delivers crisp response, and the four edge-contact points at the bindings lock in grip on hardpack or mixed conditions. The flat nose with generous rocker keeps you floating like a clean wave face.

Toward the tail the flat zone disappears, and the camber-to-rocker transition stays smooth, making touring or skating mode feel effortless. With an 8.4 m turning radius it stays quick and reactive in trees or technical terrain. A medium-high flex (7/10) balances snap and control, so progressing riders and advanced riders get a confident, responsive ride.

The Isosport 7505 base adds real glide (speed = buoyancy), while the white graphic leans on the albedo effect to reflect UV and reduce heat absorption. Less snow sticks, the board stays lighter, and your lines feel faster and cleaner. In short: an all-terrain splitboard tuned for powder without giving up performance in tougher conditions.

But why did we transfer the straight edge to the valley half board?

Like our other splitboards, the Sakon lets you skin without inverting the halves. The valley waist is the hardest to grip because it’s farther from your balance point. So we move the curved edge to the mountain waist (closer to balance) and the straight edge to the valley waist to compensate for that distance.

That improved valley-waist grip also makes the Kick Turn safer and more efficient, because support on the valley side is complete. Important: ride without inverting only once you have experience and can keep both waists parallel instinctively. It’s not recommended on a skier’s track, as the narrower side can make the halves collide more easily.

FAQ

Can I ride it on-piste? Yes. It is a bit heavier than a solid board, but it rides well on-piste.

Do I need special boots for splitboarding? No. Regular snowboard boots work, but splitboard/touring boots offer better uphill support, walk mode and edging on traverses.
