Splitboard Test Results
Riding Style K2 Panoramic Split:
We call the K2 Panoramic 162 allmountain-powder-split. It has its strengths in powder and all mountain riding.
Anyway you can use it for speed runs (take care of quick condition changes) and freestyle as well but the K2 Panoramic developes it´s qualities in powder and allmountain riding.
Riding Performance: Here we evaluate the handling characteristics of the splitboard models based on the most important factors in splitboarding.
Agility: Lively and agile in Backcountry and can be shredded on the slopes as well.
Flex: The slightly harder flex of the K2 Panoramic has a positive effect on its riding behavior. More edge grip and more power in packed snow and even with increased speed, it remains quite stable.
Edge grip: The slightly harder flex of the Panoramic in combination with the Tweekend (slightly longer effective edge) also achieved enough stability to the edge. It can be used in technical terrain and is still safe, of course, it depends to the skills of the rider.
All Conditions Riding: Great in powder, the K2 Panoramic can also be used in crust, slushy snow or different conditions, thanks to its slightly harder flex. The real performance is coming up in powder.
Hiking Performance: The most important thing in ascending with a splitboard are a good skins (which we have not tested here), good edge grip on crossings and light weight. Anyway the weight of a bit heavier board can be reduced e.g. in excellent packing of your backpack.
Edge grip traversing: The ascent behavior is good through custom skins and the low weight of the K2 Panoramic. In order to achieve the appropriate edge grip on hard traverses it requires some training.
Weight: With about 3, 4kg the Panoramic Splitboard 162 is rather light but still offers good performance. The durability is impressive.
Features: Since Splitboards are a slightly larger investment, we also consider the finishing as important. Besides, if we are having fun in nature we should also contribute to environmental protection. Thus, the sustainability is a criterion.
Finishing: The skin fixation of the K2 Panoramic is unique and easy to handle. Through the bamboo side walls it gets a touch of high quality and the Bambooyah core contributes to its stability.
Sustainability: K2 produces with the Hybrilight construction, which saves on waste and thus protects our environment.

It is a 2 year model, therefore the K2 Panoramic Splitboard has not changed much.
13/14 there will be some interesting new features of K2. What? We will tell when the time has come.
