Elan Wave Strider
Splitboard Test Results
Ascent: The Elan Wave Strider is new and impressed us on the first challenging meters during ascent. With outstanding edge hold you draw your tracks up the mountain like on rails. With 2930g (for the 158 cm version) it is a relative lightweight board that is noticable when going uphill. We noticed how Elan added its expertise from skitouring into the Wave Strider Split.
Descent: During descent it is stable on hard snow and super floaty in the powder. All in all a versatile board which is super fun in the backcountry. If you like to go fast the board stays stable. On groomers it feels a bit wobbely but this doesn't lead to any penalties for an all-mountain split. Laso the Price / Performance Ratio was a reason to select the Wave Strider Split.
Snowconditions at the tests: from 20-30 cm of powder to hardpack and slopes
Bindings used for testing: SP und Spark
Boots: Deeluxe und Fitwell
Earn some floaty terms! The Wave Strider split board features a traditional powderfish shape for excellent floatation and gives riders the freedom to summit on their own, ride untracked powder and explore the backcountry. Built using our Control Wood Core with Carbon Pow Beam reinforcement combined with DG Top Technology for weight reduction, the Wave Strider goes up the mountain almost as easy as it comes back down. S1 sidewalls provide this board with durability and dampening while a tough SuperGlide Base gives the Wave Strider maximum glide. The complete package includes skins and adapters so you’re ready to go. So get out there and ride some uncharted terrain, or go get some fresh turns when the resorts are all tracked out. Just remember to wear a transceiver, use the buddy system and always stay safe!
A profile designed for surfing the snow, Pow Rocker features heavy rocker in the nose, for maximum floatation, that transitions into a flat tail. This is the ultimate Off Piste/Deep snow profile.
DG Top Technology allows Elan to produce the lightest snowboards on the market year after year while giving them increased pop and reduced weight for added support and maneuverability.
This unique graphic application technique allows us to print directly onto the board’s top laminate layer without using additional top surface materials. By providing up to 12% in weight reduction compared to standard constructions, Advanced DG Top Technology is the foundation for building the world’s lightest boards.
Reduces weight and creates a softer flex on tip to tip wood cores for increased maneuverability and complete performance enhancement.
GruvLite is a linear reduction technology that is applied to a traditional wood core. By reducing the core’s material volume through this innovative technique we are able to reduce weight and increase flex, without sacrificing pop, or the board’s tip to tail strength.
An easy to maintain stone Ground extruded base with excellent gliding properties
Built using Poplar for a lightweight smooth flex with beech stringers for increased stability and response. A very versatile core for great all around performance.
30° ABS Sidewalls optimize the transfer of energy from the binding to the board’s edge and increase the overall durability of the board.
