Baguette Boards is small but very fine snowboard shop near Innsbruck. It is the personal project of Ben, who builds each snowboard by hand. The splitboards are also unique, because each board is individually tailored to the specific wishes of the rider. That's why we don't want to talk about the individual board here, but rather about the design process and the board manufacture. Even if you don't have a concrete idea of how your future split should look like in terms of shape, profile and flex, Ben is the best person to advise you. Thanks to his know-how, everyone can get their dream splitboard. This is not just a figure of speech, but also well proven because Ben deals with the topic of snowboard construction in his thesis. It's all about blending lines, contact points and the distribution of forces along the effective edge. This is where Baguette boards stand out from the boards of other brands. The design of the spline line that travels along the effective edge is special. This does not simply follow one or more circular arcs, but consists of a special polynomial that will distribute the edges pressure optimally over the entire effective edge length. This keeps you always secure on edge during turns and also minimizes the chance of sliding out in steep terrain and/or in very icy conditions. The snowboard/splitboard construction relies a lot on natural materials: topsheets made of maple, walnut or pear; sidewalls made of bamboo and wood cores made of poplar and ash. In addition, cork inserts for vibration damping in the nose and tail area. Conclusion: If you are willing to invest a little more money, you will not be disappointed with a splitboard tailored to your personal riding style, weight and foot size. The snowboard weight remains low, edge hold in the ascent is top (of course, depending on the flex sometimes more or less) and also for the topsheet design you can choose between a wide range of artwork.
