Introduced in 19-20 as the successor to the proven Creamer, the Tour Operator has been updated for the current 20-21 season with the latest technology from Amplid, the Stratospheric Topsheet. A special coating reduces the heat absorption of the topsheet and thus reduces the sticking of snow. This allows the board to be kept free of annoying ballast. The motto is: snow under the board, not on the board.
We tested the Tour Operator extensively last season and we can say that with the Tour Operator Amplid has once again proven that they put their heart and soul into developing splitboards and spare no effort in fulfilling your customer wishes.
It rises well, rides playfully and is also suitable for solid freestyle thanks to its "almost" twin-shape. So you can use the terrain playfully and turn every obstacle into a rideable feature. The tour operator has everything we expect from a universal splitboard. Not only that, but in addition there is a plus in durability at a relatively low price.
It is strong both on groomers and off-piste, although not as superior as its lighter brothers. Nevertheless, it handles uneven surfaces and packed snow, remains stable even at high speeds and the edge holds. In powder you shift your weight backwards as a result of the shape and get a lot of lift. In the ascent, the higher weight compared to a milligram or Millisurf is of course a little noticeable, but in this price range it is fully within the limits. The Tour Operator expands Amplid's range with a good splitboard with a versatile range of possibilities.
Description
Equipped with the latest Amplid technology, the Tour Operator Split enters its second season. Manufactured from the most robust materials, this board combines a first-class riding experience with amazing durability. The "universal" geometry leaves it up to you to decide in which terrain and style you want to ride. Experience even more exciting tours thanks to less equipment maintenance. Your entry into carefree splitboarding.
The directional Tour Operator splitboard has a half-fat camber for all-mountain dominance. Its toned-down dimensions deliver a precise and lively feel much like Pop Camber, but with much improved deep snow performance and a more “broken-in” feel out of the shrink-wrap. In Amplid’s directional snowboards a touch of early rise is added to Cruise Camber to improve buoyancy even further.
Details
Lite Core
Uber light wood varieties are cut, treated and aligned in a way only our factory knows. Its strength to weight ratio has scientists baffled.
Basalt Suspension Strips
Amplid’s Running along the topsheet in a V-configuration from the contact points towards the bindings, these narrow bands of Basalt fabric dampen unwanted vibrations, reducing rider fatigue and keeping you edge engaged with the snow for improved control. Get the Rolls Royce feeling!
Biax Glass
Using Biaxial Glass in the construction of our shreds gives them a flawless blend of response and playfulness whilst keeping them ridiculously lightweight.
All Terrain Tips
A smooth kick radius and fuller tip outline improves deep snow floatation without adding swing weight.
Split Tune
We lightly round the edges at the tip and tail, outside of the effective edge. Blunting these edges reduces chipping to the topsheet during skinning.
Sintered 7
Amplid’s ultra-high density sintered base goes like shit-off-a-shovel in all snow conditions. It is extremely hard and therefore more resistant to damage.
Bolted Tip Clips
Using threaded bolts instead of rivets allows broken tip clips to be easily replaced, on the hill, without the need for a workshop full of tools.
Pre-Cured Impact Plates
Tough, pre-cured composite impact plates placed beneath bindings and touring hardware significantly reduce the risk of topsheet dings and breakages.
Custom Clips
Forged aluminium board hooks, designed in-house by Amplid’s R&D team, offer a dependable, but weightless connection between board halves and have a slick matt black aesthetic.
Knuckle Sandwich Construction
Knuckle Sandwich replaces conventional materials prone to damage with more durable alternatives. It’s like Botox for your board, but without the trout pout.
STRATOSPHERIC TOPSHEET
Less heat, less sticky snow, less weight - Thanks to a special heat reflecting coating.
