Salomon Trek S/Lab Boot
With the Trek S/Lab, Salomon has made it into the league of splitboard specific boots. So far we have only taken the S/Lab Trek under the magnifying glass and to the feet however not yet extensively tested. Our first impression is very positive. The sole is shorter than other splitboard boots and the hike mode is well solved by means of a Boa system. You get a pretty easy backward lean, similar to the Ski-Touring Boots. So wide strides are easy if you have the corresponding bindings. Turning around the Boar you get into ride-mode andyou are ready to enjoy the white. So the Salomon Trek S/Lab is comfortable to use. The shoe also promises good performance on long entrances or in demanding terrain. The Trek S/Lab is more stiff compared to a Deeluxe XVE and softer compared to a Fitwell. As far as the board feeling is concerned, he is way ahead due to the flat sole structure. It feels more like a snowboard boot than a mountain boot. We also find that very positive. We are not yet able to say anything about the sole grip and comfort on long tours. This information comes as soon as we have tested the shoe properly. Very good for the first throw!
The Trek S/Lab is a solid snowboard boot with splitboard specific features and should be put on the list for testing by ambitious splitboarders.
