Splitboard Test Results

The shape of the all new Deeluxe XVE boot almost reminds of a mountain boot. Very compact design and no forward lean. If you flex forward, the boot is forced through the highback into the forward lean, which gives a very relaxed feeling during the ride down. If you hike a lot in rocky terrain you will also love the rubber band that goes around the lower part of the boot. It protects seams from abrasion from rocks or crampons. This, we think, is a big plus compared to the last year's version. Also a big plus in comfort during the ascent and also in steep ice brings the Walk Mode. A strap allows the rear part of the shaft to open, thus you can move your leg further back and make comfortably wider strides compared to traditional softboots. The Boa System in front regulates the upper part, the one on the side pushes the heel well down and keeps it in tight position. All in all the boot is quite soft, so in steep terrain you need a bit more power in your lower legs, but it also makes the hike pretty comfortable. Our try-outs with the crampons were good, the backwelt holds the crampons well and also the sole is stiff enough. So it doesn`t bent and the crampons stay in place.

Product description

For long days and demanding missions, tap the XVe Splitboard Boot. Designed by Xavier de Le Rue, this expedition boot offers unrivaled performance and protection. The boot has been completly rework for 17-18 season and features now a two boa systems for opening / closing the upper and lower foot zone. The snow cover got replaced with an outer butt strap. Still the Deeluxe XV is super comfortable and also the board feel was maintained due to the flat sole profile. In this context the sole length was shortened again by 0,5cm. Its XLS-System also enhances strides when skinning.

  • Wide Stride Mode: Loosening the powerstrap extends the shell’s range of motion to -8° for enhanced comfort and longer strides while skinning
  • Snow Cover: expedition model features a snow cover for additional weatherproofing.
  • Backwelt: Plastic backwelt features a grooved heel for attaching semi-automatic crampons

    Deeluxe xve 2018

Hi! I cant find ANT Numbers of stiffness and boardfeel as on other restes boots? Is There a reason for that? Do you have any negative feedback on this boot? And you mention it is quite soft? Soft as? I got the Fitwell backcountry and i understand it is not as stiff as that but like compared to the older xve, summit and xv boots?

    Regards Sonny

    This boot is slightly softer
This boot is slightly softer towards the front and back compared to the 2017 model to allow easy skinning. Lateral support however remains the same. The Fitwell BC is the hardest softboot on the market,  so it's stiffer than the compared to any Deeluxe XV / XVe boot.
