Splitboard Test Results  Testinfo

Regarding the snow conditions of this season our mountaineering skills got leveled up, so I havn`t been out with my beloved Vaude ABS backpack but with the Vaude Simony 40+8.

40+8 isn`t it too big? It is big, but at this low weight I prefere to have more volume because as you know a good camera lots of electronics and if necessary a sleepingback and insulation mattress comes with me. So the size is just right. If you still think it is to big it is also available in 36+8 and 30+8 liter versions.

Like at all Vaude backpacks the ergonomic form is great and fits my back perfectly, also the adjustment possibilities make this pack really comfortable.

The well thought construction with side entry, ice axe holder and some smaller well reachable pockets gives you the possibility to easily reach your stuff and pack you backpack efficently.

Your splitboard can be fixed smoothly at the ski holders sideways and with two straps at the compression straps of the Simony. So you are prepared for long climbs as well as for situations where you don`t want to change from hike- into ride-mode.

As claimed by Vaude the Simony backpack is definately for everything in winter as well as in summer.

Recommended! Price / performance ratio is also great!

One for all: versatile alpine backpack for year-round climbing, mountaineering and ski touring. Excellent stability thanks to the Synergy Mold body contact back and the fully adjustable F.L.A.S.H. NT shoulder straps. A flat hipbelt distributes the load without interfering when climbing or wearing a harness. When needed, it can be completely detached. The height-adjustable lid offers sensible storage space for fast-access items and is completely detachable. Underneath you'll find a rope holder through which the main compartment can be compressed from the top as well.
