Vaude Boe Bib Pants
Splitboard Test Results
The Vaude Boe Bib Pants are freeride oriented mountaineering pants instead of pure touring pants. Nevertheless I had the chance to test it a complete hard season while touring and I want to inform you about my experience with those pants.
Compared to the Aletsch 2 it is noticable heavier even when it is just 200g. These 200g are worth it if you like freeriding as well. If you compare it to usual Snowboard pants there is a big gain in comfort and and less weight. Also it is not too baggy neather too tight - the Boe Bib is just right!
Touringperformance: The Pants are really comfortable and you have lots of agility. The integrated bib protects you perfectly in deep powder. Bib pants for touring? Are you nuts? Maybe! But the bib of the Vaude Boe Bib is made of highly breathable material and except a few really hot days I prefere the comfort the fit and the proection of a bib. On the exhausting hot days I just put off my jacket and everything was fine.
The Ventilation is small, compared to the Aletsch 2 but it is correctly positioned and works well.
At bad conditions e.g. lots of wind, these pants are a dream. No sighn of wind you just climb as if the weather would be nice.
The best thing is the durability. Even using crampons, scratching rocks, hiking and climbing with harness, the Boe Bib doesn`t have any abrasion.
If I could choose between pure touring pants and the Boe Bib, beeing out in challenging terrain and using the lifts some times there is one thing cleare.
I`ll take the Boe Bib because it delivers what it promisses. Very versatile and more durability than one season.
I am happy to use this pants the next season, not just because I save some bucks but also because I save a little bit of nature!
Ahh, just before I forget it, I like the little attachments inside of the excellently positioned front pockets. Here I can fix my beacon and can get rid of the beacon portable system!
