Attractive, high-lying tour on the Julierpass with a variety of downhill runs from the summit. Due to the starting altitude of over 2000m and the north side slopes, it is still feasible at the end of the season.

Route description
Starting point:

Parking at the restaurant Ospizio La Veduta ("Beautiful view"), or a parking bay 100m before.

From La Veduta in southern direction until p. 2451. One traverses the steep SW flank of Piz da las Coluonnas and then turns left in eastern direction until point 2633. From here one has a good view of Fuorcola Lagrev to the east. You then go north into the smaller, south-facing saddle. This is the steepest part of the ascent route with a short passage over 30°. Once you reach the saddle, you turn east again and reach the summit on less steep terrain.

At the summit there are several options for downhill riding:

  1. Along the ascent route.
  2. Channel in north-western direction.
  3. The little cirque in northern direction.

Along the ascent route

Not the most exciting, but the safest way to go downhill and more of an alternative solution. In case the conditions for the north descents are not suitable or in case of bad visibility conditions.

Channel in north-western direction

From the summit, go back a little along the ascent route to point P 2802, from where you can reach the funnel-shaped entrance to the northern gully. The entrance is over 45° steep.

The little cirque in northern direction

Drawn in the track. Shortly before the summit you can already see the funnel-shaped cirque. A descent requires safe avalanche conditions. In an avalanche, all snow collects in the downhill channel. The lowest rock steps can be bypassed on the right.
