A splitboard / backcountry route, as the name implies (Schöntal = Beautiful valley). At good conditions the Schöntalspitze provides cool variations. The peak is often blown off, but anyway it is possible to climb it without splitboard or backcountry skis.  This ascent can be done well in spring-time.

Route description
Starting point:

Alpengasthof Lüsens 1634m

Our splitboards /  backcountry ski are ready to hike and we have some food in our backpacks., At the beginning we walk on the forest road (following the signs Westfalenhaus) along until we could cross the creek. We do NOT, but go on to the next turn, then move up in a sort of forest glade. Are you already on the water tower (Wasserschloß)? Then you can either climb very steep, difficult terrain and continue to ascend, or you go "back to the start", not to the Alpengasthof Lüsens, only back to the forest clearing.
Here we ascend relaxed in the direction of Schöntalspitze, walking along the Schöntalwände. At about 2000m, there is one (the "correct") possibility to cross the creek, which we use to go on towards the west into a fine splitboard / backcountry area and further on to Schöntalspitze. At about 2600m we come to a "pool" (on the descent a mere playground for the surfers amongst you), we keep to the left (south-west) and hike up the north-east slope with nice kickturns. The summit is not visible yet, but we go as far as possible with the splitboards /backcountry skis. Is it too steep, or blown off, we make our depot and walk on by foot to reach the peak of Schöntalspitze 3002 m.

Like ascent we ride through really cool terrain, unleashing the joyful power of your splitboards and backcountry skis.
