An independently produced short film documenting the first Polish splitboarding expedition to the remote mountain regions of Spitsbergen in search of new freeride opportunities. A year of planning and preparation on board at the sailing yacht and the journey north along the 80th parallel through the rough waters of the Arctic Ocean. The beauty and austerity of the Svalbard Archipelago, and 8 freeride enthusiasts facing it to find freedom... the kind of freedom you only find in wild, desolate places.

We are already looking forward to seeing the whole film - maybe at SPLIT & RELAX 2019!

Initiator: Darek "Aniol" Engel

Born in a small mountain town in southern Poland. Darek discovered snowboarding in his teenage years. Gradually it became not only the sport of choice, but also his lifestyle. Dedicated snowboard enthusiast, instructor and international judge.
He is focused on backcountry freeriding. Always on the lookout for new, interesting mountain areas to explore.
