Four pieces instead of two: the Premiere takes a distinct touring approach. Two central sections go into the pack on the ascent, leaving narrower skis underfoot. It is relevant if you deliberately want a system for demanding approaches.
Is the Salomon Premiere 26/27 right for your tours?
Alpine splitters should examine the complete handling first. Narrower touring skis can help edge engagement, while transitions involve more steps and pieces in the pack. Reassembled, it becomes a directional board with Cross Profile. The principle does not guarantee the lightest total setup.
What should you consider on the ascent?
Track-Lock, Plum hardware and specifically fitted Pomoca skins belong to the described system. Special crampons are also mentioned. Confirm actual package contents and binding interfaces for your offer; the split arrangement requires matching components.
How do you choose suitable length and width?
Sizes are 154, 159 and 165 cm. Manufacturer net weights of 3.5–3.95 kg differ from weight underfoot in touring mode. A fair comparison with a two-piece split includes the central sections in your pack and the complete setup.
How do boots, bindings and skins work together?
Start by matching boot fit, board width and lateral support. An oversized boot loses support before pressure reaches the edge. For the Salomon Premiere, we would prioritise heel hold and a highback suited to your weight over choosing the stiffest possible binding. Playful downhill handling need not mean a setup that collapses sideways on a traverse. Practise both touring and riding modes with your actual interface and its specified screws. Plan suitable skins too: length, width and nose and tail fittings need to work together.

Which of our test experiences help you?
We have not yet tested the current Premiere ourselves. In our 14/15 first-impression test we rode the earlier Premiere 159 with Deeluxe Spark XV boots. Climbing impressed us: narrow skis transmitted pressure to the edges while the central sections stayed in the pack. We also liked the crampon attachment of that version.
For hard downhill conditions we wanted more torsional stiffness. Its subjective flex impression of 6/10 belongs to that earlier generation. Neither that number nor its hardware observations are transferred to today’s system. The report provides no numerical riding-style scores, so it does not produce an invented Overall Rating.
What has changed since 25/26 and earlier models?
Salomon currently includes this model in its regular range. The manufacturer page does not identify a separate technical redesign for 26/27 or a complete change list from 25/26. This page is therefore our guide for the 26/27 season rather than a claim of a newly developed annual model. Compare the actual generation, length, width, hardware and package contents. A new graphic or different price alone does not establish changed tuning.

What is included in the price and what else do you need?
Salomon specifies Plum hardware and precut Pomoca skins. Account for those when comparing a board-only price. A complete binding is not thereby promised; the Premiere also needs components matched to its four-piece arrangement.
Which alternatives should you compare?
Compare Salomon Highpath Split and Chimera Hermit 165W. The riding-style differences are discussed above. Use comparable sizes and your own boots on a demo where possible. A different stance or substantially softer binding can change more than a small dimensional difference between boards. Decide by how well the setup suits your usual tours.
FAQ: What should you know before the first tour?
Is a four-piece split always more efficient than a two-piece?
Not automatically. Narrower skis, foot weight, pack load and extra transition work need to suit your tours. Our older first-impression test explains the principle but does not replace a test of today’s system.

Have you tested this model yourselves?
We have not yet tested the current version ourselves. There is an earlier report; its experience and scores remain assigned to that version.
