Alpine Splitfest Kandersteg 2014

Alpine Splitfest 2014

Every snowboarder who likes to ride the backcountry has cursed his snowshoes at least once in a lifetime while being stuck in the knee-high and long-awaited pow. Splitboarding offers the perfect solution to it. But if you want to buy one it is usually difficult to test ride one or to compare several brands.

The aim of the event is to provide material and possibility to test and compare splitboards to everyone interested. Moreover, the festival wants to offer the experience of a community and provide a network of splitboarders, no matter how experienced they are. Another aim of the organizers is to combine the festival with environmental and safety aspects. Thanks to the support of Ortovox, participants are offered the opportunity to complete a safety refreshment course and thus freshen any security knowledge.
The framework programme also includes BBQs , fondue, live music and film presentations. The accommodation of Sunnbüel is ready to host you and provides everything for your well-being and warm nights.

Alpine Splitfest 2

The Alpine Splitfest is situated at 1900 meters above sea level at the mountain station Sunnbüel. The area of Gemmi has always been recognized as a touring paradise for skiers as well as snowboarders (“Skitourenkarte Swisstopo No 2635”, Helvetic Backcountry Map No 04 - Gemmi). The possibilities are almost unlimited in the area of Gemmi. From the sma

ll fast hills reaching up to the high alpine summit - everything is in reach within hikes of 40min to 6h.
The Altels offers one of the most breathtaking western flanks of the Alps. The 35 degree steep flank is perfect for long pow turns with your splitboard. Another advantage - especially for splitboarders: every single step you hike up the mountain can be ridden down again. Ideal conditions to test new material!
A note for lovers of classic steep descents: Balmhorn south wall and the northern flank will enchant you!

The mountains are our home. The nature is close to our hearts. And we support green riding. The Alpine Splitfest wants to keep its environmental footprint as small as possible and uses human power and public transport to get material and participants to the event site. Because we care!

      Hey Bennen...

Von München kommst du günstig mit "Meinfernbus" nach Zürich. Von dort aus gehts gut mit dem Zug (ca.2h).
