K2’s touring-specific softboot combines a true walk mode with a Vibram sole, crampon heel and adjustable flex.

Who is this splitboard boot for?

Waive suits riders combining long climbs with a powerful freeride setup. Walk mode and adjustable tongue stiffness are especially useful when flat approaches and steep descents occur on the same tour.

How do fit and flex feel?

Waive uses traditional shell lacing and Conda BOA for heel retention. Two removable tongue stiffeners tune medial and lateral flex. This helps when you want mobility uphill and more support downhill without rebuilding the whole lacing setup.

What does the boot offer on the climb?

Releasing the BOA dial opens the calf panel and extends stride length. Vibram V5 with Eco-Harshmellow provides grip and damping, and the heel welt is intended for compatible semi-automatic crampons. The lace cover keeps snow away from the tongue.

Which binding matches this boot?

Waive is most versatile with a medium-stiff touring binding. With tongue stiffeners installed, a more direct highback works well; without them, a more mobile binding better preserves uphill comfort.

Read the underlying principles in our gear guide Finding the perfect boot-binding combination.

What changed from the previous season?

For 26/27, Waive remains K2’s only snowboard boot explicitly listed for touring. Removable tongue stiffeners are now highlighted; the core walk mode, Conda heel hold and Vibram V5 remain.

Have we tested the boot?

We have not personally tested this 26/27 boot. The assessment is based on current manufacturer data, its construction and our existing experience with earlier versions.
