Who is this splitboard binding for?

Spark Surge ST is intended for riders looking for more direct and supportive Spark softboot binding for heavier riders, fast descents and demanding lines. Spark Surge ST works best with a medium-stiff or stiff splitboard boot. This combination loses little power between cuff, highback and board and suits heavier riders, firm traverses, steep lines and stiffer splitboards.

How does the system work?

Spark Surge ST uses Tesla T1 with ST Touring Brackets and ST Whammy Bars. As on the 2018/19 Surge, the solid baseplate, stiffer highback and broader ankle strap provide more support than the Arc. The Whammy Bar remains pole-operated and crampons slide in from the side.

What is included and what else do you need?

Manufacturer package for Spark Surge ST: a binding pair and the ride/tour hardware specified by the manufacturer
Plan separately: Confirm whether pucks or ride-mode interfaces are included. Add compatible crampons where your tours require them.

The exact package matters with this model because missing interface parts are system-specific rather than universal accessories.

What changed from the previous season?

Spark Surge ST carries its established core construction into 26/27, so experience with Tesla T1 with ST Touring Brackets and ST Whammy Bars and the binding’s basic character remains relevant. Still verify the current package, size matrix and any running strap or hardware updates.

Which size should you choose?

Available Spark Surge ST sizes: XS, S, M, L. Use the boot’s real outer length: heel and toe should remain centred, straps should operate in their intended range and the boot must not move laterally in the chassis. With Spark, the real sole outline determines whether toe strap, heel loop and highback remain within their intended adjustment ranges. Our boot and binding compatibility guide explains how boot flex, highback and board stiffness interact.

Have we tested this binding?

We are preparing a new 26/27 review of the Spark Surge ST. Until it is published, this page provides technical guidance without presenting a test verdict in advance.
